Grass Fed Beef in Our Veins
Our parents, grandparents and great grandparents, the first arriving here in 1854, have passed down their tradition of first taking care of the grass.
“Raising cattle in these hills is mostly about raising bluestem. Big bluestem gets all the glory, and deservedly so, but keep a close eye on his little brother. Little bluestem is what gets you through the tough times. Take care of the bluestem; the bluestem will take care of the cattle.” The most important things I know I learned on my grandpa’s knee, riding in the back of the pickup, sliding down the haystack, or perched upon the fence watching roundup; I probably learned about bluestem on grandpa’s knee.
Growing up in the northern Flint Hills, we never used the word “farm” or “ranch” when we were headed out to fix fences or check on the cattle. “We’re going out to the hills,” spoke first to the bluestem, the wildflowers, the birds, the small game and to the hills that nurture them.
Rhino’s Black Angus™ thrive in the rolling Kansas hills, along with the bluestem and a multitude of wildflowers, wild turkeys, song birds and small game. We do everything possible to produce our beef in a sustainable fashion, that these hills and their native species might endure for many generations.
We created this website for these purposes:
1. To present an opportunity to purchase directly from us antibiotic-free, hormone-free, 100% grass-fed Rhino’s Beef™, whole or by the side.
2. To introduce grass-fed producers to breeding stock we have available as well as to provide updates on the Eisbreaker™ and other products in the pipeline.
3. To offer families an opportunity to purchase a couple of Rhino’s Black Angus™ stocker/feeder calves to finish on their own grass.
Thank you for your support.
